How we work

GiveToAfrica connects donors with specific needs in African communities: 38 causes across 11 areas. We fund local organisations to do the work, check it was done, and tell you what happened.

1. Step 1

   Choosing partners

   • We fund community organisations that are already doing the work and are led by people from the area.
   • Before any money moves, we check registration, bank details, past accounts and references from people they have served.
   • Our staff visit in person. We don't fund an organisation we haven't met.
2. Step 2

   Agreeing the budget

   • Each project has a written budget and a list of targets, like the ones on every cause page.
   • Money is released in stages. The next payment follows proof that the last stage was delivered.
   • Larger purchases need receipts or three quotes.
3. Step 3

   Checking the work

   • Field staff who are independent of the partner visit to count what was delivered.
   • We measure results, not just activity: water tested, attendance recorded, children weighed.
   • Where something is wrong, we stop funding until it is fixed.
4. Step 4

   Reporting to you

   • Every donor gets a quarterly field report on the causes they gave to.
   • The report shows what was delivered, where, what it cost, and what didn't go to plan.
   • If a cause is fully funded, extra gifts go to the next round of the same programme, and we say so.
